Sports Drinks

Just because sports drinks say that they have lots of nutrients and vitamins, it doens't mean that you should drink Propel or Gatorade throughout the day as if it were water.  Sports (or also known as energy) drinks are great when it comes to their original purpose: Sports.  They provide quick burst of energy that are good for a game and can give you enough vitamins and minerals to hold you over while quenching your thirst.  But not all people use this drink for it's intended purpose.

People drink these drinks as if they were meant to be used to keep thirst away.  Yet, there is too much sugar in these drinks for someone who is just sitting in class or talking with friends.  When people drink propel, gatorade or other energy drinks everyday, it becomes unhealthy.

A way to help you be healthier while drinking Sports drinks is to drink only half of it and then dilute the rest with water.  It still will taste good and will be better for you.  Also, it will last longer.  The better option is to skip the drink all together.  Water has always been the best option for working out or hanging around.

Ditching sports drinks is a smart choice if you are not very active.  It is a good source of energy at that time, only if you can burn the extra calories in the drink with your activities.

Juices

Did you know that Snapple Kiwi-strawberry juice has 33g of sugar.  A can of coke has 40g of sugar.  Drinking that 'healthy' juice has almost the same amount of sugar as a can of soda.  Sugar is sugar no matter what.

If you want to have something fruity or want the nutirents from the fruit, try to have an actual fruit. An apple is better for you than Apple juice.  Or you can take water and add a small amount of fruit juice to your water so that it has the fruit taste, but has less sugar.

If you drink juice, it is better than drinking sports drinks.  Drinking juice regualarly is actually good for you (but you do have to look at the nutrition lable, some juices aren't all natural with fruit flavoring, some have more sugar than others).  Keep in mind that moderation is good.  Overall, juices are good for you.
